Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Unit Servicing Tiers

Level 1: Standard Service (Included in All Tiers)

The Standard Service is a thorough inspection and cleaning to ensure your system operates at peak performance.

Includes:

  • Inspection of major components: Checking for signs of corrosion, vibration, or wear.
  • Visual inspection: Assessing vessels, pipework, safety circuits, and relief valves for any visible issues.
  • Air filter cleaning: Cleaning air filters to ensure proper airflow and prevent unpleasant odours. If filter replacement is needed, you will be notified and billed separately.
  • Condensate tray disinfection: Disinfecting the condensate tray with antibacterial solutions to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Fan motor testing: Testing the fan motor for noise and verifying operational performance.
  • Drainage system cleaning: Cleaning and testing the condensate pump and drainage system to prevent blockages and leaks.
  • Evaporator coil cleaning: Cleaning evaporators with the appropriate fluid to maintain efficiency.
  • Condenser cleaning: Cleaning the condenser to optimise system performance.

Why it matters: Regular maintenance prevents costly repairs and keeps the system warranty valid.

Level 2: Internal Coil Clean (Standard Service + £30/unit)

This service includes all Tier 1 tasks, with additional focus on deeper internal coil cleaning to improve system efficiency and prevent dirt buildup:

  • Coil cleaning: Using coil cleaner or nitrogen to remove dust, bacteria, and dirt from the evaporator coil.
  • Coil fin inspection: Inspecting and combing coil fins, if necessary, to restore bent fins and improve airflow.

Level 3: Internal Fan Deep Clean (Standard Service + £50/unit)

Fans inside air conditioning units can collect mold, creating a health risk and reducing efficiency and increasing energy consumption. A deep clean of the internal fan can improve air quality, airflow and system performance.

Includes:

  • Internal fan blade cleaning: Removing dirt buildup to restore efficiency.
  • Noise and fan motor inspection: Checking for abnormal noise or issues with the fan motor.
  • Fan removal (if necessary): Deep cleaning of the fan based on the unit’s age or condition.

Importance: Clean fans help reduce strain on the motor, which extends the system’s lifespan and improves energy efficiency

Level 4: Combined Coil and Fan Clean (Standard Service + £80)

This service provides a comprehensive clean of both the fan and coils for improved performance.

Includes:

  • Deep cleaning of both internal coils and fan.
  • Antibacterial treatment to improve indoor air quality.
  • Inspection to ensure both components are free from debris and dust.

Level 5: Full Indoor and Outdoor Unit Clean (Standard Service + £150/unit)

Inc all levels

Units exposed to particularly harsh environments (dusty areas, outdoor locations) or that haven’t been serviced in a while may require a full indoor and outdoor clean.

Includes:

  • Deep cleaning of indoor and outdoor coils and fans.
  • Inspection of the outdoor unit for exposure damage, dirt, and blockages.
  • Cleaning and inspection of external fans, condenser coils, and heat exchanger

The Importance of Coil and Filter Maintenance

Over time, evaporator and condenser coils naturally collect dirt, bacteria, and dust. Without regular maintenance, this buildup forces the unit to work harder, reducing efficiency and increasing energy consumption. Regular cleaning of filters, coils, and fins ensures the system operates effectively and helps prevent failures and unpleasant odours. Neglecting maintenance may result in reduced performance, higher energy costs, and the development of foul smells.

Additional Remedial Services (Optional)

In addition to the standard service tiers, we offer a range of optional remedial services for more complex or specific issues. These services are available based on on-site assessments:

  • Refrigerant Leak Tests: Ensures compliance with F-Gas legislation, preventing costly leaks and maintaining system efficiency. Offered separately from the standard service.
  • F-Gas Log Maintenance: We can perform leak tests, provide leak test certificates, and update the refrigerant log to ensure compliance with current F-Gas regulations.
  • Refrigerant Asset Number Logging: Keeping a record of refrigerant usage for better monitoring.
  • Annual Oil Sampling: Performed on compressors as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure optimal function.
  • Running Amps Monitoring: Record running amps of fan motors at low, medium, and high speeds to detect potential issues early.
  • Fan Motor Lubrication and Bearing Checks: Lubricate bearings and check fan motors to ensure smooth operation.
  • Compressor Checks: Inspect compressors for unusual noises or vibrations and ensure they operate within design parameters.
  • Damaged Lagging Replacement: Replace damaged insulation (lagging) around pipework to maintain system efficiency. Small repairs can often be carried out immediately; larger repairs may require a return visit. Cost depends on the amount of lagging needed, with a detailed estimate provided on-site.
  • Coil Fin Straightening: Straighten bent coil fins to restore airflow and enhance system performance.
  • Bird Spike Installation: Install bird spikes to prevent fouling of outdoor units in areas frequented by birds.

Why Regular Servicing Matters

Regular servicing offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Improved Efficiency: Routine cleaning keeps the system running smoothly, reducing energy consumption and lowering bills.
  • Odour Prevention: Cleaning prevents the buildup of mould and bacteria that can cause foul odours.
  • Extended Lifespan: Timely service reduces the risk of breakdowns and prolongs the life of the system.
  • Warranty Compliance: Many manufacturers require annual servicing to maintain warranty validity.

Service Scheduling

We recommend scheduling maintenance services at least once per year to ensure your unit operates optimally and remains compliant with warranty and safety standards.

Conclusion

This document is intended to inform you in advance that during the servicing of your air conditioning or heat pump unit, more than a Standard Service may be required. Our engineers will determine the appropriate level of service on-site, based on the unit’s condition. The pricing for each tier of service, as listed above, is per unit, ensuring transparency and consistency. This fixed pricing model assures customers that costs are not arbitrary. Factors such as the time since the last service, the unit’s location, and environmental conditions—like kitchens or commercial spaces—can all impact the level of service required.
